My practice focuses on civil litigation, principally in the State and Federal Courts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I also provide counsel to clients involved in business and real estate transactions, aviation matters, employment, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and risk management. I have significant experience in the direct defense of insurers, principally defending bad faith matters. I have also defended insureds in a myriad of general liability, product liability, professional liability, construction, environmental, and toxic tort cases.

I have a broad based litigation practice representing individuals and businesses as plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of matters in the State and Federal Courts Massachusetts and Rhode Island including but not limited to tort, contract, and administrative actions.
My experience as a licensed private pilot has given me the opportunity to interact with other pilots and members of the aviation community. I have represented hundreds of pilots in FAA enforcement actions and other regulatory matters. I have also represented and currently represent airlines, fixed based operators, repair facilities, and flight instructors. I am panel counsel for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (“AOPA”). I have tried aviation related matters in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and the Federal Court for the Northern District of New York. I have also tried civil enforcement matters before National Transportation Safety Board (“NTSB”).
Following my admission to the patent bar I have had occasion to be involved in defending alleged infringers and representing patent holders to enforce their rights. I have also developed a trademark practice providing trademark clearance searches, trademark prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement. I have also assist with copyright registrations and have litigated copyright matters in Federal Court.
While I have a wide range of experience defending insureds in general liability, product liability, professional liability and construction litigation, my primary focus is the direct defense of insurers in extra-contractual matters principally defending bad faith claims associated with alleged unfair claims handling practices by insurers.
I have had the honor of defending many specialized professionals in a myriad of matters. I have defended Attorneys, including specialized practitioners such as patent attorneys and tax professionals. I have also defended registered investment advisors, real estate brokers, architects, engineers, and insurance brokers.
I have represented hundreds of clients in both mediation and arbitrations. I have also served the roles of both mediator and arbitrator in a host of different types of disputes. I am a public arbitrator on the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) panel and also serve as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.
My practice also includes business entity formations, business transactions, including but not limited to real estate conveyancing and leasing, and resolution of land use issues. In the aviation area, I have represented numerous individuals and entities involved in aircraft transactions.
